Pastor M. Troy Smith is the Senior Pastor of Solid Word Bible Church (SWBC), located on the North Westside of Indianapolis, IN. Solid Word Bible Church had its inaugural service on April 2, 2000. Before starting Solid Word, Pastor Smith served two years as an associate Pastor of ministries at Eastern Star Church in Indianapolis. As pastor, his main passion is to equip and edify the body of Christ through the expositional preaching and teaching of God’s Word.
In the fall of 2003 and 2010, Pastor Smith was the key note speaker at the Evangelical Free Church of America Great Lakes District leadership conference. He traveled to Ghana, Africa and served as keynote speaker for the Overseas Council of America Institute for Excellence, a leadership training institute for seminary leaders in third world counties. He traveled twice to Haiti to help with the earthquake disaster in 2011 and 2012. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Evangelical Free Church of America Great Lakes and Life Centers of Indianapolis (Formerly Crisis Pregnancy Centers). He is the coordinator for the EFCA African American Ministries (African American Pastors) from 2009 to present.
Pastor Smith is a native of Springfield, OH. He graduated from Ball State University, where he received a degree in History Education. He received theological training at Crossroads Bible College of Indianapolis. In addition, he received Biblical counseling training through the National Association of Nouthetic Counseling (NANC).
Pastor Smith has been married for sixteen years to his college sweetheart, Angela E. Smith. They now have five wonderful children, Troy Kristopher, Morgan Tralease, Andrew Emery, Aaron Emmanuel, and Markus Timothy.
